About the Role

As Senior Financial Analyst – Cash Flow, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and actionable total cash flow insights, forecasting, and performance reporting across the Springer Nature Group. You will serve as a trusted business partner, helping to optimise liquidity, strengthen cash generation, and support the achievement of the Group's strategic and financial objectives.

In this role, you will lead the development of robust cash flow forecasting and planning capabilities, ensuring that cash performance, liquidity risks, and opportunities are clearly understood and embedded in business decision-making. You will combine strong analytical expertise with commercial insight to translate complex financial and operational data into meaningful recommendations that drive business performance.

Working with a high degree of independence, you will champion continuous improvement across cash flow reporting and planning processes, leveraging automation, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled insights to enhance forecasting accuracy, increase efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

This is a hybrid role based in Heidelberg or Berlin. These locations support effective collaboration with the team and aligns with business needs.

Role Responsibilities

Total Cash Flow Analytics & Business Insights

• Act as the Group's subject matter expert for Total Cash Flow, partnering with senior stakeholders to optimise liquidity, improve cash generation and support delivery of Group cash flow targets, leveraging strong financial acumen
• Analyse working capital performance and quantify the impact of receivables, payables, inventory, accruals, and deferred revenues on cash generation using advanced Data Analytics / Quantitative Skills
• Provide analytical support and forecasting inputs for cash flow hedge accounting activities, demonstrating strong decision quality
• Partner closely with Treasury, Group Finance, Tax, Finance Business Partners, and senior business leaders to understand funding requirements, liquidity management, financing activities, and cash flow risks through effective collaboration
• Support strategic decision-making through scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis, and what-if simulations, applying strong business insights
• Translate and present financial and operational data into meaningful business insights for senior leadership and executive stakeholders by communicating effectively
• Identify structural cash flow improvement opportunities and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders, demonstrating resourcefulness
• Deliver executive-ready analysis and commentary explaining actual cash performance versus Budget, Forecast, and Prior Year, leveraging strong business insights
• Ensure consistency and reconciliation between P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting while maintaining robust data security & governance standards

Total Cash Flow Forecasting & Planning

• Develop and maintain driver-based cash flow forecasting models, utilizing Data Analytics / Quantitative Skills
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve forecasting accuracy and cash conversion through strong collaboration
• Develop dashboards and KPIs that provide forward-looking insights into cash performance, liquidity, and emerging risks and opportunities by leveraging advanced analytics, AI, and predictive modelling, supported by Data Security & Governance
• Lead the integration of Total Cash Flow planning into Budget, Forecast, and Mid Term Planning cycles, effectively balancing stakeholders across the organization.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across cash flow reporting and planning processes, applying process optimization
• Lead the transformation of cash flow reporting through automation, self-service analytics, AI-enabled insights, and process simplification, leveraging process optimization

Ad Hoc & Strategic Support

• Support strategic initiatives, investment reviews, and business cases through cash flow modelling and analysis, demonstrating strong financial acumen
• Perform ad hoc analyses as requested by senior management, exercising sound decision quality

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
• Demonstrable experience in financial planning, controlling, treasury, or cash flow analysis
• Strong understanding of financial statements and the relationship between P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
• Advanced financial modelling and forecasting skills
• Advanced Excel skills together with experience using modern analytical and visualisation tools
• Experience working with large datasets and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, Power BI or similar)
• Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to translate complex data into meaningful business insights and recommendations
• Experience presenting financial insights to executive-level audiences
• Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving business process improvements
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Strong attention to detail coupled with the ability to see the bigger picture
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, international environment
