Overview:

The Quality Engineer supports ARCXIS Engineering Production by promoting quality, consistency, continuous improvement, and adherence to established engineering standards. This position provides drafting and design expertise to both the Frame and Foundation teams and works closely with engineering leadership to identify opportunities for improvement, reduce errors, develop standardized processes, and strengthen training and quality assurance practices.


The Quality Engineer serves as a key resource for engineering standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality documentation, new hire assessments and onboarding, automation implementation, and corrective action initiatives.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the Frame and Foundation teams by providing drafting, design, and technical expertise.
  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering Production, Engineering Managers, and other engineering leadership as required.
  • Develop and maintain training materials based on ARCXIS engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage, maintain, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), How-To documents, and other engineering process documentation.
  • Facilitate Lunch and Learn sessions focused on common drafting, design, quality, and production errors or omissions.
  • Assist the Vice President of Production Engineering with developing and publishing Quality Alerts as needed.
  • Manage engineering Quality Assurance (QA) checklists, including revisions, updates, and monitoring compliance.
  • Perform periodic spot checks of completed work to evaluate quality, consistency, and adherence to ARCXIS standards.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring quality or production issues and assist with developing and implementing Corrective Actions.
  • Partner with the Director of Engineering Production and Engineering Managers on continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Participate in the testing and evaluation of new engineering automations, tools, and workflow improvements.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and supporting documentation for engineering automations.
  • Support the implementation of approved automations and monitor team adoption and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing workflows through standardization, automation, training, or process changes.
  • Develop practical CAD and design assessments used to evaluate prospective new hires.
  • Manage and maintain the Engineering new hire onboarding checklist and assist with improving the onboarding process.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating job descriptions for drafting and design positions.
  • Provide support to other departments, including Scheduling, Onboarding, and Technical teams, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements

Education, Experience and Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting, Construction Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent and related job experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering design, drafting, quality assurance, or a related production environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD, engineering standards, and quality control processes.
  • Experience with SOPs, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvement.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and collaborate effectively with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with training, technical documentation, and automation or workflow improvements preferred.


Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance, training, and support to engineering team members.


Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, computers, and engineering software.


Physical Demands:

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are generally Monday through Friday during normal business hours; however, additional hours may be required based on business needs.
