About the Role The Director, Business Office & Health Information Management leads the front end of the revenue cycle and the health information functions for Legent

Health's Carrollton hospital system. This role owns patient access, scheduling, health information management (HIM), front-end collections, and charge capture, and partners

closely with the back-end billing and collections team to ensure a clean, efficient, end-to-end cash cycle. The Director is accountable for accurate patient throughput, complete

and compliant documentation and charge capture, strong point-of-service collections, and a seamless patient financial experience — building standardized workflows and

developing staff across the system.

POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patient Access & Scheduling

  • Lead registration, insurance verification, eligibility, and prior authorization to ensure procedures are financially cleared before service.
  • Oversee scheduling workflows and coordination with clinical and surgical teams to optimize throughput and minimize access-driven denials and delays.
  • Own patient estimates, financial counseling, and price-transparency compliance.

Front-End Collections

  • Drive point-of-service and pre-service collections; set targets and coach staff on patient financial conversations.
  • Establish upfront collection policies that improve cash while protecting the patient experience.

Health Information Management (HIM)

  • Oversee medical records, chart completion, release of information, and record integrity across the system.
  • Ensure HIM practices meet regulatory, accreditation, privacy (HIPAA), and retention requirements.
  • Coordinate with coding to support timely, accurate documentation and DRG/charge accuracy.

Charge Capture & Revenue Integrity

  • Own front-end charge capture accuracy and completeness; identify and close revenue leakage.
  • Partner with clinical departments on documentation and charge reconciliation to support correct reimbursement, including DRG-driven cases.

Back-End Coordination & System Efficiency

  • Serve as the front-end partner to the back-end billing and collections team, aligning workflows so claims go out clean and denials are prevented at the source.
  • Track and act on shared KPIs (clean-claim rate, denial rate, days in AR) and lead root-cause resolution of front-end-driven denials.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the full cycle to reduce cost to collect and shorten the cash cycle.

Compliance

  • Ensure access, HIM, charge capture, and collection practices comply with federal and state regulations, payer requirements, HIPAA, price-transparency rules, and applicable Stark/AKS considerations.

Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, and manage patient access, scheduling, HIM, and front-end collection staff and supervisors.
  • Build training, QA, and performance standards; provide executive-level reporting and revenue cycle narrative for leadership.
  • Set clear goals and expectations; provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Develop talent through mentoring, training, and career development initiatives.
  • Promote a collaborative and engaging work environment that aligns with company values.
  • Manage conflict and make timely decisions to maintain team focus and performance.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations.
  • Approve timecards, schedule, time-off requests, and other administrative HR functions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations.

  • Key Performance Indicators
  • Financial clearance/Authorization Rate
  • Point-of-service collections
  • Clean-claim rate
  • Front-end denial rate
  • Days in AR (shared)
  • Chart completion/HIM turnaround

  • 5+years of progressive revenue cycle, patient access, or HIM leadership, including 2+years managing teams.
  • Working knowledge of hospital patient access, scheduling, HIM, charge capture, and front-end collections, and how they feed back-end billing.
  • Strong command of payer processes, denials prevention, HIPAA, and revenue cycle KPIs
  • Proven ability to standardize workflows and lead teams to measurable results.
  • Preferred
  • Experience in a surgical hospital and/or ASC environment required.
  • RHIA or RHIT (for HIM depth) and/or CRCR, CHFP, or comparable revenue cycle certification.
