Engage with data owners to define business needs and translate them into clear, well-scoped technical requirements for engineering teams. Support the delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement of data capabilities and tools across the organization.
Requires 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in investment management or capital markets with strong technical literacy. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage stakeholders, define project scope, and translate complex business problems into actionable data requirements.
Everything we do exists to find alpha, investment value the market has overlooked. We believe technology is a genuine source of that edge and core to how we find and act on conviction. Because of this, we are modernising our core platform, investing seriously in our data, and building AI solutions that help us achieve alpha for our clients.
Data is the thread that connects all of it. Structured, governed and well-understood data is what turns our investment philosophy into decisions, and what makes our platform and AI ambitions possible. We are aligning the platform, data and AI to work as one.
As a Data Business Analyst, you sit at that point. You will work across the Investment, Operations and Client pillars with the data owners who hold the firm’s data, framing the right problems and translating them into clear, well-scoped requirements engineers can build against. You will own discovery and scoping across a portfolio of initiatives — establishing what data quality means in each domain, clarifying where domain boundaries and ownership sit, and shaping the business input into architectural change as the platform evolves. The work is influential by design: the problems you frame shape the direction data takes at Orbis, and how we use it to generate client alpha.
We are home to world-class talent, and we're looking for more of it to help define what our investment edge looks like next.

You are a curious, driven business analyst who enjoys complex data problems and is at your best when the requirements aren't yet clear. You are a self-starter, able to take ownership of the BA workstream across the full project lifecycle — from discovery through to release — with minimal oversight. Orbis operates in an agile manner, and you will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

We are a global firm with offices across eight countries, over 400 employees and more than $60 billion in assets under management. But those numbers don’t define Orbis. It’s our values, the way we do things day by day, and the value we add for our clients that define us. Our investment philosophy is fundamental, long-term and contrarian. As contrarian investors, we strive to adopt a different perspective, which informs every aspect of our approach. To invest differently, you need to think differently. This is encouraged by having teams of people with different backgrounds, experiences and ways of thinking.
