You will design and ship backend services in TypeScript while managing the underlying AWS infrastructure and AI deployment pipelines. The role involves owning features end-to-end, from initial development to monitoring and incident response.
Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in production software development with deep proficiency in Node.js and AWS. Strong expertise in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and LLM integration is required.
Help us rebuild a consumer-facing AI/LegalTech product from the ground up.
Build services, own how they run, and keep the AI infrastructure clean, observable and affordable. For an engineer who thinks about shipped features and how they stay up at 3am.

What you'll do
We are building the next generation of Settify — new application code in TypeScript, a new AI infrastructure stack, and new deployment pipelines. This role sits deliberately at the intersection of software engineering and platform engineering, with a strong focus on the AI infrastructure powering our product.
You will write backend code one day, tune a AWS cost dashboard the next, and own both halves of a feature’s lifecycle. If you are the kind of engineer who shipped a feature and then wished you’d been the one to deploy and observe it, this is the shape of role you’ve been looking for.
The engineering team is small — 5 in Sydney and 3 international — so your work compounds visibly and your voice matters in direction-setting conversations.
You enjoy solving problems with others, sharing what you know and learning along the way. You communicate clearly and follow things through, with a practical approach that makes life easier for your teammates and the people using our product.
To make this happen you will:
Build — approximately 50% of your time
Run — approximately 50% of your time
What you'll bring
Even better if you have;
You are the type of person who embodies these traits
Communication: You are concise in your verbal and written communication. You collaborate openly and positively.
Motivation: You are driven to make a real difference through your work. You find genuine joy in seeing users benefit from what you create.
Pragmatic: You understand the trade-offs between quality and velocity. You consistently strike the right balance.
Curiosity: You constantly ask the who, what, where, when, and why, seeking deeper understanding and better solutions.
Settify is an inclusive, people-first company committed to breaking down institutional barriers that keep people from reaching their potential. If you meet some, but not all the requirements above, we encourage you to still submit your application.
